You've completed your root canal, and your tooth is finally feeling better! You feel like you can actually eat, and maybe even sleep again. While it's such a relief to finally feel better, there are still a few things you should do after your procedure to ensure the best outcome from your root canal in Webster Groves.

Avoid Hard Foods

Even though your tooth feels better, it's a good idea to stick to softer foods while you're allowing your tooth to heal. You also don't want to cause damage to the temporary filling on your tooth. It's important to understand that after root canal therapy, your tooth is not as strong as it once was. You will return to Webster Groves Dental after the healing process so Dr. Wenzel can put a permanent filling or crown on your tooth. This ensures that you will enjoy all the function you once had before your root canal.

Be Careful Brushing and Flossing

Keeping your oral health up during healing can help accelerate the process and ensure great results. Continue your regular brushing and flossing routine for the rest of your teeth, but take great care around the tooth that was treated. Again, you'll need to be gentle with it until that final restoration is placed.

Take Pain Relievers as Needed

It is normal for the treated tooth to feel tender, and you can take pain relievers as needed. However, the pain should not be as intense as it was when your tooth was infected. If you are experiencing pain that is more intense or out of the ordinary, contact Dr. Wenzel right away.

If you have any questions about root canal therapy, or the recovery process, your team at Webster Groves Dental is here for you! Don't hesitate to give us a call.
